Hvaskjernå – What´s next? - by and for HIV positive gay men

This website has been created by and for HIV positive gaymen and aims to help all those, who, like ourselves, have lived with HIV for a while or have recently been diagnosed with the infection. We also hope the site will be of interest to those who are HIV negative or are only indirectly affected by HIV, but would like to know more about what´s it like to live with HIV.

Hiv is a chronic condition that we must be prepared to live with for the rest of our lives, but no longer leads to terminal illness as it did in the 1980´s and 90's. It is important for us to remember that life goes on, even with an HIV+ diagnosis. And it is up to each individual to decide how meaningful and active a life he or she wants to build.

Thanks to the effective drugs now available, most of us can expect to live a healthy and active life for decades. In the following pages, we´ll try to give you an idea of what to expect when living with HIV, and we won´t pretend it´s always easy. One of the important things we wish to convey is that we can learn to control and manage our HIV, rather than let HIV have control over us. That is what this website is all about.

The pictures used on this site are for illustration purposes only, and models were not recruited on the basis of their HIV status. This site was developed by Helseutvalget - Gay and Lesbian Health Norway, and relies in part on the resources provided by our sister organization, Terrence Higgins Trust (THT).
